The spirit of the rules:UniConnect works because everyone on it is a verified member of your campus. Treat it like your campus — don't sell what you couldn't sell at a dorm yard sale, don't be someone you wouldn't want to ride with, and keep personal contact details off the platform.
1. Prohibited items — never list these
Listings are screened automatically and reviewed when reported. The following may not be listed, sold, traded, or given away:
- Weapons of any kind — firearms, ammunition, tasers, knives designed as weapons, explosives, fireworks;
- Drugs and alcohol — illegal drugs, prescription medication, alcohol, nicotine and vaping products;
- Drug paraphernalia — bongs, rigs, rolling papers, and similar items;
- Anything living — animals of any kind, and live plants;
- Stolen, counterfeit, or fraudulent goods — including fake IDs and account credentials;
- Anything else illegal to sell or possess under law or university policy.
Attempting to disguise a prohibited item (creative spelling, code words, “DM for details”) is treated the same as listing it openly.
2. Keep it on the platform
- No sharing of phone numbers, emails, social handles, or full last names — anywhere, by anyone. In-app messaging exists so you never need to give a stranger your number.
- No directing users to other platforms to complete a transaction (“Venmo me,” “text me”), which removes the safety layer everyone here relies on.
3. Be honest
- Describe items accurately — real photos, real condition, real price.
- Only post rides you actually intend to drive, with real departure times and seat counts.
- Show up. Repeated no-shows (buyer, seller, driver, or passenger) are a violation.
- Reviews must reflect real transactions — no fake, traded, or retaliatory ratings.
4. Be safe
- Meet in public campus locations for exchanges (Powell Campus Center, a residence hall lobby, the library).
- Drivers must hold a valid driver's license and drive legally and sober — no exceptions.
- Passengers: wear your seatbelt; don't pressure drivers to speed or overload the car.
5. Be decent
- No harassment, hate speech, threats, or discrimination.
- No profanity or slurs — listings, messages, ride posts, profiles, and reviews are screened automatically, including creative spellings (f*ck, sh1t) — they count the same as the word itself.
- No spam, pyramid schemes, or commercial reselling operations — this is a peer-to-peer campus community, not a storefront.
- Respect blocks: if someone blocks you, do not attempt to reach them another way.
6. One person, one account
- Register only with your own university credentials. Using someone else's account or credentials is strictly prohibited.
- Only current students and professors/staff may hold accounts.
7. Reporting and enforcement
Every listing, ride, and conversation has a Report button, and every user can be blocked. Reports are reviewed by the UniConnect team.
Violations lead to content removal, restrictions, suspension, or a permanent ban at our discretion — and bans follow the person, not the account: new accounts created to evade a ban will be removed. See the Terms of Service for the full enforcement policy.
